SINGLE AUTHOR COLLECTIONS

Guidelines

  • What we want: Looking for science fiction, fantasy, and horror in all styles, sub-genres, and viewpoints.
  • What we don't want: Stories with excessive profanity, child abuse, bestiality, incest, or hate fiction. We pander to an adult audience so please no fiction aimed at children.
  • Tip: Send us only your best because we will be submitting to a few of the year's best anthologies.
  • Length: Short collections of four or five short stories.  Each short story should be between 1,500 and 15,000 words. 
  • How we pay: All writers that submit to us must have a PayPal account for payment.
  • Payment: $5 for each story and $2 for each reprint, paid on publication, plus a free one year subscription to our market database ($12.97 value).
  • Note: Authors that that have at least one published novel, novella, anthology or collection also receives a free one year listing in our Book and Magazine Directory ($7.97 value). 
  • Rights: We purchase exlusive P.O.D and world-wide electronic rights (CD, disk, audio, email, download, or any other digital format known or yet to be invented). We also retain the right to archive your stories up to five years and reprint your stories for a possible "Best of the Year Anthology."
  • Reprints: If you're sending reprints make sure you own the rights to resale your work.  Pease include the last place your story was published, the month, year, and issue.  Also let us know if your story is currently available in any other online venues or publications.
  • How to submit: We accept electronic submissions only. Submissions and queries should be sent to . Make sure to put "COLLECTION: - Your Full Name & Proposed Title of Collection" in the subject line. We use the same e-mail address for all submissions and without the proper subject line we won't know where your story fits in our publications. 
  • Note: Your browser also needs to be Javascript enabled to see the above e-mail address. We do this to hide our e-mail address from e-mail harvesters
  • Format: No need for a cover letter; but make sure to include a short bio (written in third-person) embedded in the body of the e-mail. Please include previous publishing credits and a short 150 word or less blurb (written in third-person) describing your collection of short stories.  The blurb will be used for marketing purposes.
  • Submission Format: RTF (.rtf) or MS WORD (.doc) file sent as an attachment. Underline all italicized text. Please include all contact information with your manuscript. Use Times New Roman 12pt font and single space all paragraphs.
  • Reading Period: August 20th through November 20th, 2008.
  • Multiple Submissions: You can submit up to four stories at time. If you use this method please attach all stories in one zip file.
  • Simultaneous Submissions: It's okay as long as you let us know that you've also submitted it elsewhere. And if it's accepted by another publication please inform us.
  • Response time: 1-4 months. We also send an automated notice immediately if we received your story safely. If you haven't heard back from us within four months feel free to query with the date of your submission.
  • Publication date: Within twelve months from the date of contract acceptance.
